RealEarth is distributed as a QEMU raw disk image, suitable for virtualization environments like KVM.
Requirements
The host machine should be able to dedicate a minimum of 2GB of memory and 2 CPUs to the RealEarth virtual machine. The data disk image can be whatever size the admin desires. Resource requirements vary greatly depending on the volume and complexity of incoming data and client load. The installation tools will prompt for a single port to forward via iptables. All communication with the API is done via HTTP over this one port. The admin can optionally configure HTTPS (SSL).
Installation
The installation tools will configure the virtual machine, create the data disk image, and forward one port from the host to the VM.
Configuration
Once installed, RealEarth is configured via the admin web interface.
